The Diocesan Festival Choir is comprised of singers from many different parishes. Ideally each parish of the diocese would be represented in the choir for at least one of the annual liturgies. The choir sings for major diocesan liturgies throughout the year, including Ordinations, Chrism Mass, Silver and Gold Wedding Anniversary, Rite of Election, and more.
Singers who enjoy the larger-choir experience are encouraged to contact Christopher M. C. Deibert at cdeibert@diometuchen.org
or 732.562.1990 x1636 with any questions, and to discuss full membership or single session participation in the choir. Singers need to be able to match pitch, blend their voices in the ensemble, and learn music quickly.
An average of three rehearsals is held for each liturgy. Rehearsals are on select Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the St. John Neumann Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Lane, Piscataway, or at the Cathedral as indicated on the schedule provided.
The Diocesan Men’s Chant Schola
is another subset of the larger Festival Choir. These men learn primarily the chanted Propers. Rehearsals are generally held on Festival Choir nights. Membership is by audition with strong consideration given to music reading ability and ensemble blend.
