Bishop James F. Checchio consecrates the holy oils, used in the administration of the sacraments throughout the year in the Diocese of Metuchen, at the Chrism Mass on March 26, 2018, at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen. The Mass is also the occasion during which priests of the diocese publicly renew their promises of unity with their bishop.

Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi

  • Adult catechumens (those preparing for Baptism) will receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist). With our eyes we give witness to the wonder of the resurrection as the newly baptized go into the water and are raised up – dead, buried and risen in Christ.
