E-Rate Overview

The E-rate program provides discounts on certain services and products that are essential for classrooms to receive voice, video, and data communications. The amount of the discount depends on the level of demographics of the school receiving service. The discount ranges from 20% to 90% of the cost of eligible services. The discounts received free up monies for the school to use to benefit the school. On average, the schools within the diocese can receive a discount of 40%. This may be lower or higher for your school, depending on the relative income level of your students guardians.

Discounted Services

The following are examples of some of the services and products that are eligible to be discounted under the E-rate program:

  • Telephone services: including local, long distance, cellular, and paging services
  • Internet Access: basic access to the Internet, school website hosting, and email services
  • Network Infrastructure: the components necessary to deliver voice, video, and data to the classroom (and its maintenance)

This is not an all-inclusive list, but a general guide of some of the most requested services and products which can be discounted in the E-rate program.

E-Rate Advantage, LLC has created a slide show (which can be downloaded with the link below) that contains helpful information for diocesan schools about the E-rate program and the steps that are necessary to participate and receive E-rate discounts.
