Habemus Papam! We Have a New Pope!

Statement from Most Rev. James F. Checchio, JCD, MBA, Bishop of Metuchen, on the election of Pope Leo XIV.

“And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”

The Diocese of Metuchen rejoices that we, once again, have our Peter, our rock to lead and guide the Church as Holy Father. 

We are grateful to God for the gift of Pope Leo XIV, and I ask the faithful of the Diocese of Metuchen to join me in prayers of thanksgiving to God.
