Welcome to the Office of Ecumenical & Interfaith Affairs. This office which also convenes the Diocesan Commission for Ecumenical and Interfaith Initiatives, works under the aegis of the Secretariat for Family and Pastoral Life. It exists as a result of the call for the establishment of such offices by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity in its 1993 Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms on Ecumenism.
The Bishop has asked us to undertake a renewal of this important diocesan ministry with the aim being to foster spiritual ecumenism, promote friendly relationships between Catholics and other Christians as well as people of other faith traditions by initiating conversation and consultation, and working together with other Christians and faith traditions in areas like education, public and private morality, social justice and culture and the arts.
