Director of Music Our Lady of Mount Virgin Middlesex, NJ
Full-time director of music for 2000 family Roman Catholic church in Middlesex, NJ.
The successful candidate will (1) serve as organist for weekend and holy day Masses; weekly adoration; novenas; Holy Week liturgies; annual sacramental liturgies; and special devotional services and liturgies, as needed; weddings; and funerals; (2) organize and prepare cantors; serve as choirmaster for adult and children’s choirs, and organize and prepare a bell choir if there is interest; (3) encourage congregational singing; (4) prepare worship aids, weekly and as necessary; (5) have the ability to organize and conduct the occasional brass or string ensemble; (6) prepare, or assist with, organ recitals and concerts; and (7) assist with other parish responsibilities as requested.
The successful candidate will possess superior organ performance, improvisation, and liturgical playing skills; the ability to accompany on the piano; as well as have a thorough familiarity with the liturgies of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church. Performance instruments on site include a 3-manual, Allen Renaissance organ; a Hallet, Davis baby grand piano; two octaves of Malmark handbells; and five octaves of Schulmerich chimes.
