In light of restrictions by Governor Murphy to curb the spread of COVID-19 and in accordance with the Decree in Time of COVID-19 issued on March 19, 2020 by the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments by mandate of the Supreme Pontiff for the year 2020, Bishop Checchio has postponed the Chrism Mass to be re-scheduled for another date/time with the renewal of priestly commitment and the blessing/consecration of oils occurring at that time. Oils/chrism from the current supplies (currently in use) may continue to be used until a new supply is blessed/consecrated and made available. If the parish is running low on oils/chrism, contact Tony Varas, Director of the Office of Worship, tvaras@diometuchen.org.
Priests will be notified when a date for the Chrism Mass is determined. You may check this page periodically for updates.
Each parish/institution is requested to submit the following form indicating whether their priests will concelebrate at the Chrism Mass and attend the Chrism Dinner held after the Mass with the Bishop.
Parishes/institutions are able to submit their request for Holy Oil on the same form. Please indicate the number and size of Holy Oils you are requesting.*
In order to facilitate arrangements with the caterer and make the necessary preparations for the Mass, please have your form submitted by Monday, March 23.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact the Office of Worship at (732) 765-6438.
*If your parish has multiple worship sites, please take into consideration all the worship sites in total when determining the amount of Holy Oils needed for your parish.
