All of the most effective Catholic evangelization for youth requires personal contact. The Catholic Campus Center hosts an array of large and small events to pique the interest of students, publicizing them on-line and through various forms of print and electronic communication, but, typically students do not go to an event without a personal, one-on-one invitation from a fellow student or a staff member. That personal contact helps bring down the barriers and diminish hesitancy about a student coming to the Center to begin with. Once they attend for the first time, they become engaged and their relationship to the ministry begins to take shape.
CCMRU is staffed by religious from the Oratory of St. Philip Neri, the Sisters of Jesus our Hope, the Brotherhood of Hope, the Associate Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Metuchen and four interns. The Brothers and interns are involved in outreach, evangelization and formation. Obviously because of the nature of this people-on-people ministry, and the fact that more than one-third of Rutgers students are baptized Catholics, the task is formidable.
It is our intent to educate and inform as many Catholic alumni of Rutgers University as possible about the Catholic Center – its services, vision and commitment to all students who are drawn to the Center. These alumni live around the country. But, naturally, those with a continued connection to New Jersey, particularly the Diocese of Metuchen, and who share a commitment to faith, will find encouragement in the program and work of the Center. The enthusiasm and energy of those students who call the Catholic Center “home” inspire interest and support. This capital campaign will reach as many of these individuals as possible, inviting them to consider how they may support this vital ministry.
We have developed a three to five-year pledge chart to help you identify a pledge level that you can reach. You will see that you can choose to make your pledge in a number of ways. Some individuals may choose to spread their payments over five years in order to contribute more, select a naming opportunity, or fit their personal philanthropic needs. The Stewardship Office will send out reminders before each payment that is due that will include a balance.
A pledge to the campaign is a promise; it is not legally binding. The Diocese of Metuchen is dependent upon the generosity and the faithful, community friends, foundations and corporations to complete this project. While we hope that you will not experience any financial challenges, should your financial situation change, we will work with you to accommodate any unforeseen personal situations.
Yes. A list of current needs is provided under Naming Opportunities. If there is another area to which you wish to direct your gift, please let us know.
