Corresponding Secretary to the Bishop, Piscataway, NJ - Office of the Bishop 

Presently we seek a Corresponding Secretary to the Bishop to manage the communication and office needs of the Bishop by preparing and typing letters, personal correspondence, reports, articles, and summaries. The job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Receiving and opening Bishop’s mail, stamping dates, sorting and routing as needed. Preparing and mailing all outgoing mail, including general mailings
  • Composing letters, notes or memos in Bishop’s characteristic language and style
  • Cataloging all incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, special projects and other information on computer; Making copies of correspondence for files; Backing up files periodically
  • Maintaining an accurate filing system for heavy volume of correspondence and reports
  • Performing other tasks as needed

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a practicing Roman Catholic who upholds the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church and who possesses a sound working knowledge of the Catholic faith and Church hierarchy
  • Possess an Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt style of writing
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access

Staff Accountant, Piscataway, NJ - Office of Finance 

Presently, we have an immediate, full-time opening available for a Staff Accountant who will assist in the daily operations of the finance department and provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares daily, weekly and monthly recurring journal entries
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information
  • Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments
  • Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data
  • Prepares and analyzes all balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts
  • Maintains regular and detailed interaction with A/P, A/R, Payroll and Data Processing for analytical and process support
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential  

Reports to:  Controller

Professional Abilities: Solid analytical, problem solving and customer service skills; possess knowledge and experience in A/R billings, cash receipts and collection activities; experience with general ledger account reconciliations and analysis; solid PC skills, including accounting software applications, Outlook, Word and Excel; a team player, and has the ability to maintain confidential information in a discreet and professional manner

Education/Experience: B.A. in Accounting; 1 to 3 years of experience; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.

Cemetery Office Manager, Piscataway, NJ - Office of Cemeteries 

Presently, we are seeking an Office Manager who will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the Cemetery Office operations. This position reports to the Director of Cemeteries; primary duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as bookkeeping, information management, filing systems, requisition of supplies and other functions
  • Maintains records and HMIS application accurately with respect to inventory of crypts and graves in both Resurrection and Holy Cross Burial Parks; Prepares and delivers data reports utilizing HMIS application
  • Receives calls from funeral directors and schedules burials and entombments for Resurrection and Holy Cross Burial Parks
  • Works closely with the Director, Cemetery Superintendent and maintenance staff to arrange the scheduling of burials; properly assigns at-need plots and mausoleum crypts and confirms arrangements with funeral directors
  • Collects, records and deposits all monies for both diocesan burial parks (burials, letterings, vases, emblems, payments on graves and crypts)
  • Answers all calls to the Office of Cemeteries and the Sales office; Refers service requests and customer complaints to the respective member of staff
  • Processes account payable bills for payment
  • Demonstrates appropriate consolation and empathy to callers and visitors, representing the Diocese in a caring manner
  • Performs other duties as required

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, be highly proficient in the use of technology (MS Office applications and HMIS), and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy with respect to recordkeeping. Additional qualifications include the following:

Editor-In-Chief, Piscataway, NJ - The Catholic Spirit 

The Diocese of Metuchen seeks an Editor-in-Chief to plan, direct and coordinate the design, production and distribution of The Catholic Spirit, its award winning bi-weekly newspaper, and oversee production of the diocese’s Hispanic newspaper, El Manantial, published quarterly. Responsibilities include: determining content and placement of articles; writing or directing the writing and editing of articles, stories, headlines and captions; and ensuring production of the newspaper is within budget and deadlines.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a mission-oriented, dynamic, practicing Roman Catholic with knowledge of Catholic teaching and tradition
  • Possess excellent writing and editing skills, as well as superior production skills
  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience in print media, writing, and/or editorial content, and a minimum of five years’ experience in production management and staff supervision
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Theology or related field
  • Be able to strategically advance the overall mission and message of the Diocese of Metuchen
  • Be able to expand the online presence of The Catholic Spirit to connect print media with digital media
  • Be able to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Possess the ability to negotiate, organize, delegate, and work under pressure
  • Possess solid PC skills, including Adobe, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Administrative Assistant, Piscataway, NJ - Office of Schools 

Presently, we seek a professional and reliable Administrative Assistant to work in the Office of Schools to:

  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and Superintendent of Schools
  • Schedule appointments and make arrangements for meetings and conferences
  • Prepare correspondence and record minutes of meetings; draft responses to inquiries
  • Coordinate various programs and events
  • Coordinate office mailings and distribute materials to departmental committees, boards, etc.

Part-Time After School Program Attendant (Aide) - St. Ann School - Raritan, NJ
 

St. Ann School in Raritan is looking for an energetic, highly motivated and creative individual to work in our Aftercare Program.  We are looking for an Aide that would assist in daily activities, assisting children with homework, dispensing snacks, outdoor play, crafts, group activities, and maintaining a clean environment.  Someone who would make a great role model for our elementary school aged children. 

Hours range depending on the school schedule; on half days the hours for aftercare are 12:30 to 6pm, and on full days of school the hours are 2:30pm to 6pm Monday through Friday.  Applicant must be 18 years or older.
