Executive Assistant to the Bishop - Piscataway, NJ - Office of the Bishop 

The Diocese of Metuchen seeks an Executive Assistant to the Bishop who will serve as liaison between the Bishop and staff and the public, communicate Bishop’s decisions to appropriate parties and interface and communicate with members of Church hierarchy throughout the world. Primary duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Provides administrative support and oversees general office affairs (supply ordering, inventory, photocopying, requisitions, expenses, filing, etc.); Screens, prioritizes and routes calls and incoming mail for the Bishop. Answers questions and resolves problems within scope of authority and responsibility.
  • Schedules appointments and makes arrangements for meetings, conferences and travel; Prepares agendas and acts as recording secretary when required; Coordinates calendars and scheduling between the parishes and the Bishop’s Calendar.
  • Prepares correspondence from dictation or drafts a response for Bishop’s review; Coordinates office mailings and distributes materials to departmental committees, boards and other bodies.
  • Facilitates development and distribution of agendas for in-house and external meetings; Prepares meeting minutes as necessary.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a practicing Roman Catholic with knowledge of Catholic teaching and tradition
  • Have the ability to maintain appropriate level of confidentiality in all matters
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess an Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess solid PC skills, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

Cemetery Office Manager - Piscataway, NJ - Office of Cemeteries 

Presently, we are seeking an Office Manager who will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the Cemetery Office operations. This position reports to the Director of Cemeteries; primary duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as bookkeeping, information management, filing systems, requisition of supplies and other functions.
  • Maintains records and HMIS application accurately with respect to inventory of crypts and graves in both Resurrection and Holy Cross Burial Parks; Prepares and delivers data reports utilizing HMIS application.
  • Receives calls from funeral directors and schedules burials and entombments for Resurrection and Holy Cross Burial Parks.
  • Works closely with the Director, Cemetery Superintendent and maintenance staff to arrange the scheduling of burials; properly assigns at-need plots and mausoleum crypts and confirms arrangements with funeral directors.
  • Collects, records and deposits all monies for both diocesan burial parks (burials, letterings, vases, emblems, payments on graves and crypts).
  • Answers all calls to the Office of Cemeteries and the Sales office; Refers service requests and customer complaints to the respective member of staff.
  • Processes account payable bills for payment.
  • Demonstrates appropriate consolation and empathy to callers and visitors, representing the Diocese in a caring manner.
  • Performs other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, be highly proficient in the use of technology (MS Office applications and HMIS), and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy with respect to recordkeeping.  Additional qualifications include the following:

  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic who upholds the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church and who possesses a sound working knowledge of the Catholic faith and Church hierarchy
  • Bachelor's Degree

Editor-In-Chief, Piscataway, NJ - The Catholic Spirit 

The Diocese of Metuchen seeks an Editor-in-Chief to plan, direct and coordinate the design, production and distribution of The Catholic Spirit, its award winning bi-weekly newspaper, and oversee production of the diocese’s Hispanic newspaper, El Manantial, published quarterly. Responsibilities include: determining content and placement of articles; writing or directing the writing and editing of articles, stories, headlines and captions; and ensuring production of the newspaper is within budget and deadlines.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a practicing Roman Catholic with knowledge of Catholic teaching and tradition
  • Possess excellent writing and editing skills, as well as superior production skills
  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience in print media, writing, and/or editorial content, and a minimum of five years’ experience in production management and staff supervision
  • Possess a BA in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • Be able to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Possess the ability to negotiate, organize, delegate, and work under pressure
  • Possess solid PC skills, including Adobe, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Our Lady of Victories School is a Pre-K3 through grade 8 school located in Sayreville, NJ. Our Lady of Victories School enrolls 175 students with a professional staff of 18, and is fully accredited by the AdvancEd. Candidates for principal must be willing to assume responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the school as well as assist in developing long range goals for the school. Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for developing and maintaining a top-grade academic and religious-oriented school are a must. Candidate must be a practicing Catholic and hold a Master‘s degree in educational administration or related field and a minimum of five years educational experience, part of which is in the Catholic School System.
