Cemetery Worker, Piscataway, NJ - Office of Cemteries 

Presently, the Diocese of Metuchen is seeking a Cemetery Worker who will be responsible for performing manual labor, including the regular operation of backhoes or other medium construction equipment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Helps dig graves with backhoe and shovel and positions casket on casket loading device.
  • Helps set up equipment including folding chairs for public functions.
  • Refills open graves with soil.
  • Installs flower vases and markers on graves.
  • Pours and finishes concrete borders around headstone markers.
  • Performs other duties as required;

Qualifications include a high school diploma or possession of a G.E.D.; or one (1) year recent experience in grounds, landscape, street, water/sewer, or building maintenance, or in construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and have a valid driver's license.

Accounts Receivable Clerk, Piscataway, NJ - Office of Finance 

Presently, the Diocese of Metuchen is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk who will be responsible for computing, classifying, recording and verifiying numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records. This position reports to the Controller; primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Sorts, copies and enters online deposits and all incoming checks and cash and bank deposits on a daily basis.
  • Prepares invoices and issues monthly statements for diocesan assessments, school subsidy, insurance property/liability/auto, clergy pension, etc.
  • Maintains accurate files of cash received from parishes and daily transaction register and journal entries.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
  • Assists external auditors with Parishes annual audit by providing requested schedules, payments history reports and support documentation and answering questions.
  • Sort, reconcile and online check deposits and bank cash deposits and enters all account receivables data for all cemeteries and crematory.
  • Performs other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, be highly proficient in the use of technology (Word, Excel, Outlook and accounting software), and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy with respect to recordkeeping. Additional qualifications include a Bachelors Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Administrative Assistant, Piscataway, NJ - Office of Worship 

The position assists the director in preparing diocesan liturgical celebrations which includes scheduling of Masters of Ceremonies, Ministers of the Liturgy and various other preparation tasks. The position also assists the director in supporting pastors in their responsibility for promoting vibrant liturgical celebrations in their parish.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a practicing Roman Catholic who upholds the teaching and traditions of the Catholic Church and who possesses a sound working knowledge of the Catholic faith and customs

Presently we seek a Corresponding Secretary to the Bishop to manage the communication and office needs of the Bishop by preparing and typing letters, personal correspondence, reports, articles, and summaries. The job functions include, but are not limited to:

 Part-Time Technology Teacher - Immaculate Conception School, Annandale, NJ

Immaculate Conception School seeks a part-time middle school Technology Teacher for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year..

This position will teach Technology to 6th-8th grade students, Tuesday-Friday, typically between 10:45a.m.-2:35p.m.  The total position will represent 15 hours per week, and prep time is included.

Technology Teacher candidates should be able to teach:

Parish Bookkeeper (PT) - St. John the Evangelist - Lambertville, NJ 

Part-Time – approximately 16 – 18 hours per week within regular office hours Monday through Friday. However, it is recognized that this is a dedicated service and may be necessary to spend time in attendance at various meetings outside of normal hours. The bookkeeper may be allowed to maintain a flexible schedule. Attendance at monthly Finance Council meetings is required.

Accounting background with 3 years of experience. Solid understanding of creating financial statements, general ledger coding, journal entries and bank reconciliations. Technology Coordinator/Teacher - St. Helena School - Edison, NJ 

St. Helena School in Edison, New Jersey is a PreK-3 – 8 Grade school.

Candidate will teach courses to the students in grades PK-8. Content includes basic terminology, computer care and use, Internet safety, computer ethics, Google Apps for Education, media literacy, online research and simple programming.

This full-time position requires someone who can manage all devices in the school (30 iPads, 200+ Chromebooks, 15 SmartBoards and approximately 100 desktops/laptops) and is responsible for maintaining the school and church website. Qualified candidate needs minimal IT skills, but MUST have knowledge of Active Directory, Chromebook/GAFE Management, iOS (iPad Management) and HTML/Web management skills. Candidate is also expected to provide Technology Professional Development to the faculty when needed and advise administration on technology purchasing.
