The 2013 Flame of Charity Dinner to be held Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel will benefit the many social service programs of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Metuchen. In 2012, through 113 programs at 21 sites, Catholic Charities served over 50,000 people throughout the four counties of our Diocese and beyond, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. This vital and reliable social services agency continues to prove its operating efficiency by spending 91% of its funds on services and programs that directly impact and respond to those in need - every day all year long.

When Superstorm Sandy ravaged the eastern shores and inland communities of New Jersey, Catholic Charities was there among the first to respond to the community, setting up temporary shelters and distribution centers to provide immediate aid to storm victims. Catholic Charities mobilized to assess needs, deliver relief and develop long term plans to rebuild and renew lives of those impacted by the disaster.
In recognition of their significant contributions to disaster recovery and relief efforts in the Middlesex County-area following the storm, the parish community of Our Lady of Victories in Sayreville under the leadership of its pastor, Rev. Thomas F. Ryan, will be honored at the dinner with the Community Servant Award. Also to be honored are Brian J. Kelly, president, and Dennis M. Kelly, chief executive officer of APG Security LLC, a securities services company headquartered in South Amboy. They will receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award. Brian is a member of St. Mary’s Parish in South Amboy and Dennis is a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Colts Neck.
Tickets to the Dinner are $200 per person. The cocktail reception begins at 6:00 pm with dinner to follow at 7:00. A variety of opportunities exist for sponsors, underwriters and advertisers. For more information on attending and supporting this event, click the link below.
