Rooted in the Gospel invitation to share in the healing mission of Jesus Christ, the Office of Family Life provides support to clergy, pastoral ministers and volunteers who minister to those who have lost a loved one. Parish Bereavement Support Groups are available throughout the diocese and no registration is required.
For those in the initial stages of grief, meetings are held once a week for six to eight consecutive weeks. Pre-registration is required unless otherwise noted. There is also a once a month program for those who are seeking additional support.
This ministry is designed to provide immediate support for a family following the death of a loved one. First responders call the family with condolences on behalf of the parish community and make arrangements for a home visit. The Office of Family Life assists the Lazarus Parish Coordinators and volunteers.
Rainbows for All Children
Rainbows for All Children Parish Support Groups are for children (ages 4-14) experiencing a significant loss, illness or other painful transition within their family. With the assistance of a facilitator, children will learn to put their feelings into words and begin the process of working through their grief.
