Groups of the Faithful

The following groups are recognized in the Diocese of Metuchen:

Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR)

The mission of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) is to awaken and "stir into flame" the baptismal gifts of the Holy Spirit through an ever-deepening conversion to Jesus Christ as we journey to the Father. Their main outreach is a Life in the Spirit Seminar or Born in the Spirit Seminar, a retreat experience that invites participants to a fuller release of the gifts of the Holy Spirit through what is called Baptism in the Holy Spirit or release of the Holy Spirit. For more information on CCR, visit www.nsc-chariscenter.org or send an email to metuchenccr@gmail.com.

Metuchen Cursillo Movement

The Cursillo Movement is an evangelical movement of the Catholic Church. The name Cursillo is Spanish, meaning short course - a short course in Christianity. The purpose is to nourish Catholic individuals with the knowledge of God's love and grace, and to help them discover their personal mission in the world so they may enjoy the fullness of Christian life. During the Cursillo three-day Weekend (Thursday evening through Sunday), participants learn how to approach evangelization as a natural act of being Christ-like in their daily activities and environments.

Cursillo was founded by layman Eduardo Bonnin in 1944 and has spread across the world. The first step in the process for Eduardo’s Beatification and Canonization began in February 2015.

The next Men’s Weekend will be held Sept. 22-25, 2016 and the Women’s Weekend will be held Nov. 3-6, 2016. For more information, visit www.metcursillo.org.
