The following courses will be offered this year to help the laity deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith and to prepare them for the work of evangelization:

Prepare to Lead: Bible Study Course
Prepare to Lead, a Catholic Bible Study Training Course sponsored by the Office of Evangelization, offers a basic introduction to the Sacred Scriptures for people who desire to understand the Bible better and/or may wish to facilitate Bible Studies. The classes lay a foundation in the Catholic approach to reading and interpreting the Word of God. Anybody who is interested in growing their knowledge and love of the Scriptures is invited to participate.

The course will be offered at 2 locations – St. Mary, Alpha, and Our Lady of Victories, Sayreville. Classes begin in September and run through May, one Saturday per month.  Registration is required.

Kerygma: A Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Kerygma: A Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a Catholic Bible-based retreat which gives the participants the opportunity to encounter the Lord Jesus through hearing and responding to his Word and renewing the gifts and graces they received in Baptism and Confirmation.

Although it uses both Scripture and Church teaching to announce the Good News of Jesus Christ, it is not an academic study of salvation history but rather an opportunity for the many Catholics who do not know the basic Gospel message to experience its life-changing effects. It is essential that we clearly hear and personally respond to the Good News for the grace of salvation and new life to become a living reality in our everyday lives.
