What's New in May 2012

Deacons' Birthdays -- On your birthday, may God who created you continue to fill your years with His love and grace. Our prayers are with you on your special day. Happy Birthday John Bertrand, Gregory Caruso, John Czekaj, Russell Demkovitz, John Flynn, Philllip Gonzalez, Anthony Gostkowski, Anthony Hancock. Richard Kenton, George Kimball, Edward Majkowski, Richard McCarron, Keith McCarthy, John McGuire, David Mikolai, Martin Mulroy, Louis Pizzigoni, Lawence Reilly, Gregory Ris, Andrew Strus, John Tietjen, Corpus Valentin and Frank Yuhas.

The St. Stephen Fund was created to enable our deacons to assist each other in times of need. It is intended to take donated mony to be used for the welfare of the members of the diaconate community in the Diocese. Contributions to this fund can be directed to Terry Gertz by having your checks made out to the Diocese of Metuchen.

The Deacon Candidates (Class of 2012) will be ordained to Permanent Deacons on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi.

Bishop Paul Bootkoski has approved the formation of the new Diaconate Class of 2017.  Recruiting efforts will formerly begin this June 2012, with formation classes starting in September 2013.

Deacon Stephen Kern (Class of 2010) will assume the role of Associate Director, Class of 2017.  Deacon Steve serves the community parish of St. Magdalen de Pazzi in Flemington.

The General Information meeting for all men interested in the Diaconate will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. John Neumann Pastoral Center.  Information for the program and other related materials will be available at the meeting.
