Diocese of Metuchen to hold multi-cultural Mass

METUCHEN – Rev. Msgr. William Benwell, vicar general of the Diocese of Metuchen, will be the principal celebrant of a multi-cultural Mass at 11 a.m. May 31 at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, 32 Elm Ave. All are welcome.

With a theme, “Celebrating our Cultural Heritage,” the Mass will highlight and promote a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural diversity throughout the diocese. The homilist at the Mass will be Rev. Bede Kim, parochial vicar of Transfiguration of the Lord Parish in Edison-Highland Park, who also serves as coordinator of the diocese’s Vietnamese Apostolate.

Among those present will be members of the ten diocesan-sponsored apostolates representing Catholics who are African American, African and Caribbean; Chinese; Filipino; Hungarian; Indian and Sri Lankan; Indonesian; Korean; Polish; Portuguese and Brazilian; and Vietnamese.
