On February 28, 2012, the Office of Worship and Episcopal Ceremonies conducted a workshop on Celebrating Holy Week with the New Roman Missal. Presented by Msgr. Robert Medley, Director of the Office of Worship and Episcopal Ceremonies, and Thomas DeLessio, Diocesan Director of Liturgical Music, the workshop provided participants with a review and explanation of the changes in the Holy Week liturgies based on the texts of the New Roman Missal. The workshop also highlighted how to celebrate these most solemn liturgies vibrantly and well.

The following resources have been developed and provided by the active member dioceses in the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC) Region VII (Indiana and Illinois). This "Navigating the Roman Missal" project provides helpful information about implementing the new Roman Missal for the different liturgical seasons. The material is provided in an easy to digest format including (1) glossary changes, (2) what is new, (3) where to find items, and (4) other concerns. Are We There Yet? On the Road to Roman Missal Implementation
On August 4, 2011, the Department of Worship and Liturgical Formation hosted a workshop for parish Roman MIssal implementation teams. The workshop focused on the recommended preparation activities in these final months prior to the implementation of the Roman Missal - Third Edition on November 27, 2011. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced the list of seven publishers authorized to print and release ritual editions of the English translation of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal. Orders for the Roman Missal can be placed directly with the publishers. Shipment and delivery will not begin until October 1, 2011. Please consult the publisher websites for prices and applicable discount information.

On March 15, 2011, the Department of Worship and Liturgical Formation hosted a workshop entitled "Sing a New Song: Music for the New Roman Missal." New and revised Mass settings were reviewed and suggestions for implementation were discussed. The workshop was presented by Thomas DeLessio, Diocesan Director of Liturgical Music. A copy of the presentation handout is provided below in PDF format for download. Also available is the handout which identified the recommended set of new and revised Mass settings for initial use.
On September 23 the Department of Worship and Liturgical Formation hosted a workshop for parish representatives called A Roadmap for Roman Missal Implementation: Creating A Parish Plan. The two handouts from the workshop are provided here in PDF form for download. Parishes are encouraged to develop a 12 month plan for implementing the Roman Missal on November 27, 2011. These materials are provided to assist parishes in their planning process. Click on the link to download.
Cardinal Francis George, OMI, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) announced on August 20, 2010 that the final approved text of the Roman Missal was received and with it the implementation date in the United States was set for the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced in a press release on April 30, 2010 that the official approval of the English translation of the Third Edition of the Roman MIssal was given by the Vatican. With the texts now approved, the next task of the USCCB is to determine an implementation date for when the revised texts will start to be used in the United States. The recognitio marks a major milestone in the process toward implementation and with it begins the phase of proximate preparation.

As we await the promulgation and implementation of the expected revisions to the Roman Missal, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Committee on Divine Worship recommends that this be a time of preparation and catechesis for both the clergy and the faithful.
