Ways to Give » Capital Campaign for the Catholic Center
One of the most rewarding assignments I’ve had as a priest was in campus ministry. It was during my time at the Rutgers-Newark campus that I became aware of the many spiritual challenges that young men and women face as undergraduates.
Through my experiences as a campus minister, I came to realize that students, while pursuing their studies, are also discovering who they are as persons, questioning what they want to do with their lives after graduation, and developing a deeper understanding of their relationship with God and with others. For college students, having a campus minister to turn to is essential for their spiritual and emotional growth, and produces intangible benefits later in life.
Convinced that, as Catholics, we must provide for the pastoral care of our students, and knowing that this means having a place on campus for them to call home, I am committed to making the new Catholic Center on the campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick a spiritual oasis in the heart of our State University.
So that Catholic Campus Ministry will be well-positioned to serve the needs of thousands of Catholic students, both today and in the future, the Diocese of Metuchen is embarking on a $3,500,000 capital campaign to expand private support in two areas: Program Endowment and Capital Funds.
I am extending a personal invitation to alumni, philanthropists, clergy, foundations, parents, grandparents, corporations, parishes, and friends to participate in the vision for campus ministry by responding generously to the Capital Campaign for the Catholic Center at Rutgers University. Together we can succeed in fulfilling our responsibilities to the young men and women who are the future leaders of our ecclesial and civic communities.
In the Lord,
Most Reverend Paul G. Bootkoski
Bishop of Metuchen
