Welcome

If you are new to our schools, your first question may be, "Home School Association, what is that?" The Home and School Association is what would be called the PTA or PTO at some schools.

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Diocese of Metuchen Executive Advisory Board of the Home School is primarily one of service to the educational community.

The Advisory Board is made up of all local Associations. The Advisory Board functions in an advisory capacity at all levels.There are three levels; namely, Diocesan, Region and Unit (parish/school).

The main activities take place at the Unit level. The Region level exists to assist the Unit Associations when needed.

The Diocesan Advisory Board exists to coordinate and facilitate communication between and among Regions. It is responsible for planning, decision-making and leadership.

Since a Catholic school strives to develop Christian life and ideals in all its students, an appreciation for Gospel values, the Catholic Faith and worship, together with the educational ministry of the Church shall form an integral part of this Association.

Attention Surveyors!

Contained within Wheels & Wings, pp. 32-45, you will find great assistance and support in developing a survey.

On pages 40-45, there are a multitude of written phrases that will help you formulate your survey.

Please remember that these are samples. You need to personalize your survey for your community in your school. It needs to share your story. There is no one-size fits all. Customization is the best way to build relationships with your specific environment.

Included in this writing, is a copy of a sample of a Home School Association survey, because within Wheels & Wings, there is very little in the “suggested statements” that would lend themselves specifically to an HSA survey. Reading it should give you some good ideas as to what you would include in your “personalized to your school’s HSA” survey.

Surveys are the pipeline to your families. Indeed, they carry precious information.
